Activities
Activities have often been referred to as the other half of education. Faith Lutheran School endeavors to offer a variety of meaningful activities.
Field Trips:
Individual classes take field trips during the year. Parents may be asked to assist with transportation, and some field trips may require a fee.
Geography Bee:
Students in grades 4-8 are invited to participate in a geography bee. The Geography Bee is sponsored by the National Geography Society in cooperation with the National Council of Social Studies Teachers.
Math Contest:
Students in grades 1-4 are invited biennially to participate in the St. Jude Math-A-Thon contest. Students in grades 5-8 participate in the Lutheran Metroplex math contest.
Music:
Students in PS-grade 3 have regular classroom music activities taught by each classroom teacher and sing in chapel services. Students participate in a Christmas program each year and may perform for Parent/Teacher League meetings.
Students in 2nd and 3rd grade may learn piano keyboarding, choir is available to grades 4 - 8, grade 4 learns the recorder, grades 5 through high school may participate in band and grades 7 - 8 may play in the hand bell choir.
Outdoor Education:
Students in preschool thru 4th grade will have an outdoor education day in the fall or spring. Students in grades 5-8 will have overnight outdoor education days either at a camp or state park.
Scholar Bowl:
Students in grades 5-8 may participate in Metroplex Lutheran Scholar Bowl program. This is an academic competition between Lutheran schools culminating in a tournament.
Spelling Bee:
Students in grades 1-8 participate in an all school "Spelling Bee."
Talent Show:
An annual talent festival is sponsored by the Parent/Teacher League and is open to any interested student.
