Dress Code

Student Dress Code for Kindergarten through Grade 8

Acceptable features (See note 1): Unacceptable features (See note 2):
1. Shirts and Blouses

1.1 Knit "Polo" style.

Solid colors: white, chambray blue, navy or red.

1.2 "Oxford" style button down collared shirts.

Solid colors: white or chambray blue.

1.3 Collars, soft or stiff, with pointed front corners, button down or not button down.

1.4 Girl's collars may be rounded.

1.5 Short or long-sleeved.

1.6 Must be tucked in.

1.7 Pocket or no pockets.

1.8 Button up.

Stripes

Lettering (other than the Faith emblem)

Lace anywhere on the shirt or blouse

Zip up

Extra short "Cap Sleeves"

2. Turtlenecks

2.1 Long-sleeved.

2.2 Solid colors: white, navy or red.

2.3 Must be tucked in.

2.4 Pocket or no pockets.

Mock turtlenecks.

3. Sweaters

3.1 V-neck style.

3.2 Vest style.

3.3 Cardigan style.

3.4 Crew style

3.5 Solid colors: white, navy or red.

4. Pants

4.1 Pleated, trouser style pants or slacks.

4.2 Waist fastened by button, hook, or snap.

4.3 Twill weave.

4.4 Solid colors: navy or khaki.

4.5 Belt loops.

4.6 Zipper fly

4.7 Cuffed leg bottoms, or not cuffed (regular hem).

4.8 Front pockets:

a. Pouch or in-set type (not sewn on).

b. Hand opening is vertical down hip.

4.9 Back pockets:

a. Pouch or in-set type (not sewn on).

b. Buttoned or not buttoned.

c. Buttoned flap or no flap.

Denim.

Corduroy.

Elastic waist.

Jeans style.

Pockets sewn on rather than pouch type.

Hand opening for front pockets are horizontal below the belt rather than vertical down hip.

"Cargo" style.

Sweat pants.

Capri's.

Flared pants.

5. Shorts/Skorts

5.1 Acceptable features are the same as listed above for pants, number 4.

5.2 Length must be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee.

Unacceptable features are the same as listed above for pants, number 4.

6. Belt

6.1 Must be worn in the belt loops of the pants or shorts.

6.2 Solid colors: brown or black.

6.3 Plain (smooth), braided, or linked leather.

Suspenders.

7. Jumpers/Skirts

7.1 Colors: navy, khaki, J.C. Penney blue plaid or Lands End Hunter/Classic Navy Plaid (see catalogs).

7.2 Pleated or not pleated.

7.3 Length must be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee.

Denim.

Corduroy.

8. Socks

8.1 Tights, hose or socks shall be worn.

8.2 Solid colors: white, navy, brown, red, or black.

8.3 Knee-high socks or crew socks.

9. Hose (Girls only)

9.1 Tights, hose, or socks shall be worn.

9.2 Solid colors: white, navy, brown, red or black.

9.3 Skin (natural) colored hose.

10. Shoes

10.1 Tennis shoes.

10.2 Any closed-toe and closed-heel sturdy shoe - loafer.

10.3 Non-marking shoes (See note 3).

Sandals.

Tennis shoes with wheels (wheelies).

Cleats.

Roller blades.

High heels.

1. Listed here are those features which make that article of clothing compliant with the dress code. If a piece of clothing has features that are not listed in this column, that piece of clothing is not acceptable and should not be worn.

2. To clarify previous misinterpretations and possible ambiguities, listed here are unacceptable features and styles. This is not a complete list of unacceptable features. There are other features found in clothing that are not listed here that would not meet this dress code. If a feature is not listed in the acceptable column, then it is not acceptable.

3. Shoe scuffs have become a maintenance problem for the school. Please help keep the school in good repair by purchasing shoes with non-marking soles which are available in many stores at reasonable prices.
