Service Hours
Faith Family Service Program
All parents, grandparents and family members are invited to participate in one of the many opportunities for involvement at Faith Lutheran School. A vast amount of research confirms that parent participation is a distinct indicator of a child's success at school. Parent participation communicates love and support to the students, by showing interest in their lives and education. Finally, the support of all families is vital to the continued excellence of Faith Lutheran School. This program promotes fellowship within and among the school families, the "body of Christ."
| Service hours required per family, each academic year: | |
| Families with students in grades K-8 | MINIMUM of 20 hours |
| Families with students only in our preschool | MINIMUM of 8 hours |
| Single parent families with students in grades K-8 | MINIMUM of 12 hours |
A list of service opportunities may be requested from the office. If you wish to do service hours in an area not listed, simply clear it with the school principal. Volunteer hours for student fundraisers are not included in the program.
While your involvement is preferred, we recognize that some families' circumstances may not allow fulfillment of this service hour commitment. An assessment of $10.00 per hour in lieu of unfulfilled support time will be levied.
Service hours are tallied semi-annually and statement information is sent home. Towards the end of the year a billing is sent for incomplete parent support hours.
It is the responsibility of each family to seek opportunities to fulfill their service hour commitment. These hours should be recorded on their family record in the binder kept in the school office. In order to make recording as painless as possible, you may e-mail your hours to service@flsplano.org and we will be happy to record them in the binder for you.
The final day to record hours served is the last day of school at 3:30 P.M.
ALL service hours should be recorded for the accuracy of school records. This will enable the school to evaluate accurately the number of hours needed to sustain current programs and anticipate future needs.
